I was the board. Thought I'd take a stab at something that got stuck in my head during my bout of insomnia last night. It's not a character by any means ... just something I thought might take place pre the post apocyalptic SL. Again doesn't need to be used for anything just somethign that got stuck in Roses head.

"The president sat behind his desk, exhaustion written over his features, darkness in his eyes. They were filming, but the news broadcasts had long since gone out. He was a defeated man. He had survived because of who he was, but it didn't matter anymore. The government had fallen. They had all these precautions, they had fail safes, and it hadn't mattered. Everything had been destroyed.

The Oval office looked untouched, pristine, but the man behind the desk was ragged. He wore a suit, but the tie was missing, the first few buttons undone, he had tried, but it just didn't matter. No one would ever see this. He was certain. A man who had given into defeat. No one wrote the speech for him, they were all gone, they had been insignificant hadn't they? So he spoke from his heart, from the soul, as damaged and dark as it was.

"We tried to prepare people for what was to come. We thought that we would be able to handle it when it came. We thought so many things that proved to be false in the long haul. We believed we were untouchable. That we were the empire of modern civilization, unbeatable, un-destructable. We thought wrong. Every empire in the history of the world has risen and fallen. We assumed because we had science, and modern medicine, and governments throughout the world that we were some how immune. We all did, not just us, not just the United states of America. Every nation assumed that we wouldn't fall as our ancestors fell. We were so very wrong.

The United States Government. Why did we think that War would never fall on our Soil? Hubris. We were arrogant to think that because of who we were it would never rape and pillage our land like it had in the past, like it did so many other countries over the centuries. Europe, Africa, Asia...

The mighty empire has fallen, but so has everything else. We were fighting each other ... chemical warfare is a tricky thing. We didn't know what we would create, how fast it would spread, that it would be the end of civilization as we knew it..."

He fell silent, looked at his hands, looked back up, at the camera.

"There is so much I can say. If anyone finds this ... ever ... good luck. Fight. Prevail. Stay strong. Don't ever think that you can't fall, because you can. This is the President of the United States ... signing off. Godspeed."

End Transmission.
